Which breed matches your paw-sonality?
A lot of studies have shown that pets have this incredible power to help improve the health of their humans. It is said that dogs help reduce high blood pressure and the risk of a high heart rate. It has also been proven that dogs reduce anxiety disorders in their humans.
Whether you live alone or with a big family, pets are an important additions to life. They are entertaining, dependent, loving and trusting — traits that are sometimes hard to find in people.
The first step to take when getting a pet is to decide which breed matches your personality. Your new friend will be a part of the family for an average of 10 to 16 years. The two of you will build a lasting friendship that will be hard to explain to anyone that does not have a dog.
Recently, Banilad Town Center (BTC), a pet-friendly mall since it opened in 2005, held its second annual “BTC Pawpalooza†festival. It was a fun-filled day with a range of activities for pet lovers and their pets.
The Cebu Veterinary Doctors (CVD), one of the mall’s tenants, gave free consultation and vaccination services to over 100 pets. Pet owners also learned how to perform basic tricks through a demonstration by dog trainer Chad Badinas.
A mini fashion show and contest organized by the Cebu Shih Tzu Club and Cebu Chihuahua Club gathered contestants and their pets who looked adorable in different outfits. John Philipp Wee and Juliet Soon emerged as winners.
One of the highlights of the event was “Pawsonalities,†a photo exhibit of Cebu personalities and pet advocates with their loyal, loving, fur babies. Featured were TV5 Cebu station manager Karla Kintanar-Fernandez and PBA Hall of Famer and four-time MVP “El Presidente†Ramon Fernandez, fashion designers Oj Hofer and Jun Escario, fashion blogger Kym Maitland-Smith, student and athlete Mark Lotzof, chef Gayle Urgello-Cheok, nurse Love Quitevis, entrepreneur and tri-athlete Louie Villacin, CVD owner and veterinarian Dr. Odysseus Camarillo, student Julian Cobonpue and businesswoman and Mutya ng Pilipinas president Jacqueline Tan.
