The wine dogs of New Zealand
My humans always throw fun parties and I often enjoy all the friendly company and fallen bits of hors d’oeuvres. At the end of the night there’s always a pile of leftover corks from wine bottles in some corner. While I’m not much of a wine drinker myself, I do enjoy the occasional stolen cork to play with.
Not too long ago, my mommy came home from a Greywacke wine tasting and showed me this amazing book Wine Dogs, New Zealand: The Dogs of New Zealand Wineries. Apparently the vineyard owner and winemaker Kevin Judd is also a fantastic photographer who collaborated for the Kiwi edition.
Established in 1997 by authors Susan Elliot and Craig McGill and Giant Dog publishing, the series of books is meant to celebrate our canine friends living and working in vineyards. The first book Wine Dogs Australia was published in 2003 and there are now a total of eight volumes in the series, including Wine Dogs USA and Wine Dogs Italy. (www.winedogs.com)
I love how the personality and character of each dog shines through. The eyes are always expressive and they look extremely at ease in their natural surroundings. I can almost never sit still for a photograph, so I admire the patience they had in taking these!
