Philstar supports the Whale Call Project
MANILA, Philippines - In line with its corporate social responsibility, The Philippine STAR readily supported The Whale Call Project, which was spearheaded by Bazinga’s Global Cause Marketing Group led by Mei Marasigan-Brantzeg, asst. vice president and Gil De Palma, co founder of the project. The Whale Call Project is a cause-oriented effort to save marine life through its app, The Whale Call App.
Launched last July 23 at The Mango Tree, Bonifacio High Street, Taguig City, the free app allows download of music composed with whale calls and human vocals for only $0.99 as a donation drive. Each downloaded song will help build and crowdfund the first mobile activism app, the Global Ocean App, empowering everyone in the world with smartphones to take action in marine life protection through real-time action via marine watch, anti-pollution, public research and abuse report functions of the app.
Lending support was STAR senior VP for sales and marketing Lucien Dy Tioco. His commitment to the cause was sealed with his signature to save marine life, along with other guests like Miss Earth-Air 2012 Stephany Stefanowitz, musician Migz Escueta, and Dr. Lemnuel Aragones, associate professor at the Institute of Environmental Science and Meteorology in UP.
The Whale Call App is available for android tablet and smartphone users via Google play. iOS and Blackberry versions are coming soon.
