MANILA, Philippines - The fundraisers of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) help us save the Earth. Their job is to make sure that the place we call home is kept alive for future generations.

“Taking a minute to listen and talk to our fundraisers is not just about shelling out money — it’s about protecting Apo Reef in Mindoro or the Tubbataha Reefs off Palawan, both of which generate enough food and livelihood for some 40 million Filipinos each year,“ explains WWF-Philippines vice-chairman and CEO Jose Ma. Lorenzo Tan. “It could be about supporting climate risk assessment studies to save thousands of lives and livelihoods in the cities of Davao, Cebu, Iloilo and Baguio. It could be about protecting the whale sharks of Donsol and ensuring the sustainability of wildlife-driven ecotourism.”

Face-to-face fundraising is part of WWF’s Individual Donors Program, which aims to reach out to more people and ask them to take direct action in saving the Earth. It is just as much about awareness as it is about raising funds. For less than P20 a day, donors directly support the various environmental programs that WWF implements nationwide.
