McKinley Hill sets fun run tomorrow
MANILA, Philippines - Runners and running enthusiasts have something to look forward to this weekend as McKinley Hill in Fort Bonifacio hosts a fun run on Sunday, Jan. 24, with 3k, 5k and 10k events. The 3-km. race is ideal for beginners and casual joggers, 5k. is for intermediate runners and 10k for more experienced runners. Assembly time is 5 a.m. at McKinley Hill open grounds at the rear of the Chinese International School Manila.
The run is part of McKinley Hill’s efforts to build a green community. Proceeds from the registration will benefit Haribon Foundation’s programs, such as the preservation of native Philippine flora and fauna species. Megaworld Corporation is the developer behind the new McKinley Hill township.
“We decided to organize our own fun run after playing venue to many races over the past two years,” noted Megaworld FVP for marketing and project head Noli Hernandez. “Fun runs help foster good community relationships, which is essential to a growing community like McKinley Hill. We joined forces with Haribon Foundation since they have admirable programs for the preservation of the environment.”
Runners will appreciate the challenges posed by the gently rolling terrain of McKinley Hill, according to Hernandez. They will also get to view completed projects such as McKinley Hill Village as well as pass by the new British Embassy and the Piazza Mall development. The race will start near where The Venice Luxury Residences, McKinley Hill’s newest residential condominium development, will rise.
McKinley Hill, at 50 hectares in size, is a showcase of Megaworld’s green efforts. Aside from its open parks and lush vegetation, it hosts the country’s first solar-powered business process outsourcing (BPO) building, 8 Park Ave. Rainwater is collected and stored to water plants, while each floor has smart air-conditioning systems that can cool specified areas only.
