Dogs rule Bel-Air
MANILA, Philippines – Last May 10 Bel-Air held its Pasinaya Festival. One of the highlights of the festivities was a dog show, co-sponsored by Royal Canin. The event was hosted by Roden Araneta.
The celebration began as early as 8 a.m. as Bel-Air residents were excited to get their doggie companions into the showring. The program started at 10:20 a.m. with an opening prayer for the dogs for the best dogs and for lots of fun among the contenders.
The board of judges were Bel Air residents like Dyords Javier, Risa Bautista, Steve Quila, and Emil Abello, all of whom are dog enthusiasts. Among the almost 100 dog registrants, only four emerged as winners. It was fun watching the dogs walk in front of the judges in their colorful outfits.
The winners were categorized according to best small breed, best medium breed, best large breed, and best dog over all.
Best in Show went to Bruno, a Jack Russel owned by Jose Giovanni Dimayuga. The small dog prize was awarded to Verdel, a Mini Pincher owned by Missy Wassmer. The medium dog prize was awarded to Etienne, a Basset Hound owned by Nancy Tuason, and the large dog winner was Anthony Liberty, a Siberian Husky owned by Lanie Tinio.
Each winner was given a trophy, cash prize and a large bag of Royal Canin dog food.
The Pasinaya Festival 2009 was a success because of the efforts of Barangay Bel Air barangay chairman Victor “Jun” Gomez, Bel-Air Village Association, The Women of Bel-Air Foundation, festival director, Nene Lichauco and dog show committee members Bella Oposa, Anay Zalamea and Tracy Tuason.
