WATCH: ‘Goyo’ cast takes Buwan ng Wika challenge
MANILA, Philippines — In response to a recent trending video of a Filipino woman saying that the Philippines has no tongue twisters, the cast of “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral” gamely accepted a challenge to speak a sequence of words that may seem difficult to pronounce.
In time for Buwan ng Wika, the movie’s stars, Paulo Avelino, Carlo Aquino, Epy Quizon and director Jerrold Tarog, agreed to do the tongue twister challenge by Philstar.com.
Epy’s version of “Minekaniko ng mekaniko ni Monico ang makina nang Minica ni Monica” was just like a walk in the park; the same with Director Jerrold, who also found it easy to pronounce “Botika, Butiki, Bituka.”
While Carlo found it difficult to pronounce “nakakapagpabagabag,” Paulo was a pro in pronouncing the same word multiple times.
After “Heneral Luna” became the most successful Filipino history film of all time, Artikulo Uno will now showcase the story of the youngest general during the Philippine-American War, Gregorio del Pilar.
Directed and written by Tarog, “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral,” with the title role played by Avelino, also stars Mon Confiado, Gwen Zamora, Empress Schuck, Alvin Anson, and Rafa Siguion-Reyna. The film will open in cinemas on September 5. — Video by Kat Leandicho
