Penshoppe's handsome holiday collection

CHINKCHILLA - Kevin Billy Ching -

Back in 17th century Europe, Louis XIV made it fashionable for men to wear elaborately trimmed and embroidered ruffles made of silk, satin, or velvet.

John Travolta in the late 1970s made the three-piece suit iconic in the movie Saturday Night Fever.

Today, television plays a large role in influencing the lifestyles and fashion choices of young men who balance busy careers with full social calendars.

In 2007, Gossip Girl’s depiction of Manhattan’s Upper East Side elite set a new trend in men’s fashion. And no other TV character embodied this beguiling style as well as Charles Bartholomew “Chuck” Bass.

In the last four seasons of Gossip Girl, Chuck Bass has been put through the wringer, but all throughout emerged on top with impeccable style and his famous affirmation, “I’m Chuck Bass.”

British actor Ed Westwick plays the role of Chuck Bass on the hit TV series. But while his Upper East Side persona may dress on the theatrical side, the real Westwick prefers a more casual and relaxed look.

Recently, Penshoppe launched a successful campaign with a collection that married Westwick’s relaxed restraint with Chuck Bass’ extraordinary noblesse.

“He’s the perfect image model for where we want to go. He evokes prestige, strength and is a global character,” says Penshoppe brand director Alex Mendoza.

The partnership was so successful that items sold out quickly.

Fortunately, Penshoppe returns this holiday season with a brand new collection and campaign headlined once again by Westwick.

For the 2011 holiday season, Penshoppe offers to the smart and urbane set: great-fitting jeans, stylish tees and well-tailored blazers.

“The holiday collection is more luxurious, because it falls in the season where everyone attends social gatherings,” said Mendoza.
