Mega Fashion Hall wins two Philippines Property Awards

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - SM Megamall’s Mega Fashion Hall recently won the Best Retail Development and Best Retail Architectural Design awards during the third annual Philippines Property Awards held at the Fairmont Hotel in Makati.

These were among the awards received by the SM Group, which claimed the year’s top honor, Best Developer Award for SM Prime Holdings.  Members of the SM Group were also named winners in several other categories with SM Development Corporation picking up the trophy for Best Landscape Architectural Design for Shell Residences, plus two Highly Commended Certificates for Best Affordable Condo Development (Metro Manila), as well as Highly Commended Honors for another affordable condo project and a mid range resort development.

“This year’s batch of winners truly represents what the local real estate scene can offer,” says Terry Blackburn, CEO of Ensign Media and publisher of Asia’s industry leading Property Report magazine. “The country’s property market continues to go from strength to strength, as demonstrated by the robust growth in the commercial, retail, office, and mixed- use sectors.”

The Mega Fashion Hall, SM Megamall’s game-changing new wing, opened last year as a premier shopping, dining, and lifestyle destination.

The 86,000-sqm. new wing also creates a new exciting presence on EDSA and gives SM Megamall a fresh, iconic identity.  The SM Mega Fashion Hall’s exterior takes its cue from the barcode blocks from the existing mall in white and silver barcode stripes, all running vertically.

Mega Fashion Hall is home to the world’s most popular fashion brands like Uniqlo and Zara.  Many global brands opened their first stores in the Philippines at the new wing, including Swedish retailer H&M, Denmark’s Vero Moda, Spain’s Pull & Bear, LA-based Joe’s Jeans, London’s Savile Row and Burton, French shoe brand Nao de Brasil, and US skincare label Philosophy.  US lifestyle retailer Crate & Barrel also opened its first store in the country at the new wing.

It also brings together some of the most exciting international dining concepts –— Hong Kong’s Michelin-star dimsum restaurant Tim Ho Wan, Japan’s St. Marc Café and Ippudo Ramen, and gyoza specialist Osaka Osho.

There are also homegrown specialty restaurants like Abe, Chelsea Café, and the hearty Viking’s buffet; as well as the Food Hall, which opens a whole new world of dining possibilities.

The Mega Fashion Hall’s design team includes concept designers Arquitectonica, CAZA, and Edge; W.V. Coscolluela and Associates, Architect of Record; DA Abcede & Associates, Project Manager; and New Golden Builders and Development Corp, General Contractor.
