New haven for art, antiques & artifacts

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Harringtons has everything that a collector or antiques enthusiast could wish for — from paintings to sculptures, porcelain vases and celadon jars, rosewood tables and elm wood chairs, hand- painted Chinese ceramic plates and handcrafted Tibetan necklaces, English fine bone tea sets and ancient Indian stone statues, Italian dining chairs and Victorian wall mirrors, to name a few.

Most of the items auctioned off at a recent auction were furnishings and décor pieces from a five-star hotel in Makati. Among these were commissioned paintings by Phyllis Zaballero, J. Palencia and Jon Lucas Red.

There were also paintings from renowned artists Roberto Chabet, Emmanuel Garibay, Nena Saguil, Romulo Olazo and Tony Mahilum, as well as a 1967 Dodge Dart GT. Sculptor Roland Castrillo’s brass work entitled “Barong-Barong” was bought by a bidder.

Branch manager Cila Chua said approximately 60 percent of the 220 lots were sold to more than 50 registered bidders. Among the significant buys was a Manansala busetto, a Chabet collage, a Garibay oil on canvas, a white and gold Rolex, a Christian Dior watch with diamonds, a 22-karat gold bangle, a bronze Chinese Ding tripod ice bucket, and a two-piece table lamp with crystal stand.

The next monthly auction will be held on April 11 and Harringtons is accepting consignments. Consignors can email photos of the items they wish to consign to harringtons.auction@gmail.com for an estimate.

Harringtons is located at Km. 21, East Service Road, South Superhighway, Sucat, Muntinlupa City.  It is open from Tuesday to Sunday.
