The finest triathlon experience in Bohol
The mesmerizing Panglao Island in Bohol was the chosen venue for this year’s edition of the Safeguard Active 5i50 Triathlon. More than 650 amateur and professional triathletes from 28 countries competed in the international distance triathlon competition composed of a 1.5-km. swim, 40-km. bike and a 10-km. run. This highly-anticipated sporting event was organized by Sunrise Events, Inc. led by president Wilfred Steven Uytengsu Jr. and general manager Princess Galura and hosted by top-notch five-star resort The Bellevue Resort, owned and managed by The Bellevue Hotels and Resorts (BH&R) led by chairman Johnny Chan, managing director Patrick Chan, marketing and communications corporate director Ryan Chan and The Bellevue Resort managing director Dustin Chan. Rising to the occasion and emerging as winners were Josh Amberger (PROs category-male champion), Ashleigh Gentle (PROs category-female champion) and Tri Bohol (team competition). Meanwhile, showing their support for the said competition were Department of Tourism assistant secretary Arturo Boncato, Jr., Bohol governor Edgar Chatto and other members of the province’s local government units.
