The modern Nordic at Our Home

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Scandinavian design emerged in the 1950s in the Nordic countries Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland — a movement characterized by simplicity, minimalism, and functionality.

The idea that beautiful and everyday objects should not be only affordable to the wealthy, but to all, is the core theme in the development of modernism and functionalism. This came about with the emergence of a particular type of social democracy in the 1950s, as well as the increased availability of new low-cost materials and methods for mass production.  Scandinavian design often makes use of form-pressed wood, plastics, anodized or enameled aluminum or pressed steel.

Our Home’s Modern Nordic collection captures the essence of Scandinavian design with contemporary wooden furniture in sleek lines.

The pieces are minimalist, ergonomic, light, and compact, yet elegant.

Wood stands out in Our Home’s Modern Nordic collection. The Springfield Sofa, Churchill L-Shape Sofa and Salid loveseat all have wooden legs, and fit perfectly in your living space to create a cozy living room. The Conley Dining Set, on the other hand, is simple yet sophisticated.

The Red Stanton Ottoman with wooden legs will add character to your space; while the wooden-top  Echo side table and Maretta Nesting Table combine wood with a stainless silver base for a very modern, functional Nordic look.

The Modern Nordic collection is available at the newly renovated Our Home at SM Megamall branch and in other Our Home branches.  Designs may vary per branch.
