Marco Polo wins Hotel of the Year
During the recently concluded Marco Polo Hotel’s (MPH) General Managers Conference held at Marco Polo Hong Kong, Cebu’s only five-star hotel, the Marco Polo Plaza, was awarded “Hotel of the Year 2013” besting all other Marco Polo Hotels.
Conscientious and hard-working area manager for the Philippines Hans Hauri proudly received the prestigious award from MPH president Eric Waldburger.
Eager and excited to share the accolade with valued guests, friends and members of the hospitality industry, Marco Polo Plaza Hotel graciously hosted a delightful cocktail reception at the hotel’s majestic grand ballroom.
Waldburger had only words of praise and commendation for the Philippine-based property.
“Marco Polo Plaza Cebu has consistently displayed distinction in service and quality and rightfully deserved the 2013 Hotel of the Year award, as it set the standards for our entire company. I would like to congratulate Hauri and his efficient team for a successful and prosperous year.”
Hauri described their recognition as “a true reflection of the Cebuano’s outgoing attitude, well-known friendliness and hard work.” He concluded, “Our stakeholders’ confidence through new investments to keep the hotel facilities at the leading edge of the hotel industry is an added dimensions to the Hotel of the Year.”
Before the memorable evening came to a close, Alfred Ty, president of Federal Land Inc. and corporate secretary of Metropolitan Bank and Trust Company announced the appointment of Julie Najar as acting general manager of Marco Polo Plaza Hotel while Hauri, aside from his present position as area manager, will be president of said property in Cebu.
The Hotel of the Year award is given to the hotel that exemplifies excellence in guest service, operational standards, associate management and financial results. Marco Polo Plaza Cebu has consistently demonstrated these qualities to its guests by providing exceptional service, passion and heart even in the midst of the calamities the Visayas experienced last year.
This is the second time Marco Polo Plaza Cebu has been given the Hotel of the Year Award. The hotel also received the same award in 2006, the year it formally opened.
