Cebu holds ‘Island Madness sale’
The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), organized in 1903 is one of the leading business associations in Cebu. It endeavors to push for a more global competitive Cebu through advocacy, business development and membership growth.
For the past 18 years CCCI has celebrated the much-anticipated Cebu Business Month (CBM) in June, with various projects, activities and programs geared at sustaining the tourism growth and development of Cebu and its neighboring islands.
One of CBM’s major events held recently, was the “Cebu in the Bag, Island Madness Sale,” which was launched at the Northwing of SM Cebu. The successful affair, chaired by Camille Aldeguer, was participated in by several establishments such as hotels and resorts, restaurants, furniture industries, the malls and shopping outlets.
The “Island Madness Sale,” which took inspiration from the great Singapore Sale, offered the very best of Cebu at affordable and discounted prices. Aside from the mall wide sales at S&R, SM City Cebu, SM Consolacion, Ayala Center Cebu and Pacific Mall, the other categories in the sale iwere: Travel and Leisure Fair, which offered promos and airline seat sales of Cebu Pacific; tech and gadget sales at Park Mall; Bodega sale of export overruns at SM Cebu and Bloggers Bazaar at Pueblo Verde Outlets.
For two weeks shopaholics from the region and beyond flooded the participating stores to get their hands on bargain buys.
Besides shopping, CBM was also the perfect time to indulge in other offers and promotions, from dining to beauty and wellness for a total lifestyle experience.
This year the sale kicked off with a fashion show at the Northwing of SM, participated in by the island’s foremost fashion designers that included Cary Santiago, Philip Rodriguez, Jun Escario, Albert Arriba, Arcy Gayatin, Edwin Ao, Marichu Tan, Protacio, William Manahan, Oj Hofer, Yvonne Quisumbing and Ren Manabat.
The culmination of the CBM’s events was the Grand Chamber Awards and Fellowship Night held at the Pacific Ballroom of the Waterfront Hotel. Among the distinguished individuals and establishments recognized for their exemplary contribution to the economic and social growth in Cebu in the various industries were Carlos Co of Cebu Overseas Hardware as Entrepreneur of the Year; Vince Joseph Yap, president of Nice Day, Car Wash, as Young Entrepreneur; Dr. Odysseus Camarillo, president of the Cebu Veterinary Doctors for Small Business Entrepreneur and Norberto Quisumbing Jr., chairman of Norkis Group of Companies for the Grand Chamber Award of Distinction.
The CCCI board of trustees is spearheaded by its first lady president, Tess Chan, immediate past president Lito Maderazo, vice presidents, Bonifacio Sia, Edwin Ortiz, Regan King and Mario Panganiban, secretary Benjamin Avila and treasurer Aljim Jamandre.
