Hip brand Aerospostale invades Cebu

- Honey Jarque Loop - The Philippine Star

Young and stylish Cebuanos converged at the Ayala Center Cebu expansion wing for the official launch of American retail giant Aeropostale.

Exclusively distributed in the Philippines by Stores Specialists Inc. (SSI), purveyor of the best global luxury and fashion brands, Aeropostale Cebu is the first store outside Manila and the sixth in the country. SSI executive vice president Anton Huang led the store opening.

The Gallery of the Ayala Center Cebu was transformed into a dazzling outdoor New York scene where guests milled about and lounged on multi-hued bean bags while enjoying delectable all-American food treats, free-flowing Stolichnaya vodka from Ralph’s Wine and Liquor, classic root beer floats and sparkling ear candy from Manila DJ Nix Damn P, who set the mood early with his pulsating house beats.

Highlighting the event was the introduction of the Aeropostale Style League — a group of well-rounded individuals in their teens and early 20s who exude the Aero lifestyle and exemplify the sense of achievement, adventure and dedication the brand is known for, in a fashion show featuring the spring-summer 2014 collection.

The Cebu Style League is composed of sports and fitness enthusiast Alyssa Casal; future architect and ballerina Ariza Onozawa; soccer player, budding artist and model Gabi Woolbright Darza; International School activities conference MVP and academic achiever Illeana Osmeña; No. 4 tennis player in the Philippines in the girls-under-16 category Jana Pages; jet-skiing beachcomber Katalin Ugarte; chemistry graduate and corporate executive Nicole Li; soccer mid-fielder and student council secretary Nikki Tilka; varsity soccer team captain and volleyball player Phoebe Smith; and basketball power forward, soccer goalkeeper and Yellow Boat of Hope volunteer Reona Ido.

Completing the team are basketball and volleyball varsity player Alex Osmeña; multi-awarded autocross racer and sports enthusiast David Lim Jr.; varsity player and well-rounded student awardee James Lotzof; Cebu’s four-time Karter of the Year and Macau Grand Prix Asian Karting Open champion Jette Calderon; karter and model JT Gullas; student council president, accomplished debater and budding artist Julian Cobonpue; architecture student Kenzo Cañizares; entrepreneur and altruist Marcko Durano; Cebu debate team captain and football player Mikkel Neri; and United Football League player Tom Booth.

The girls looked hip in fresh shades of turquoise and aqua, while the boys exuded that East Coast preppy vibe with coastal and nautical touches. Award-winning rock band Up Dharma Down capped the night with a performance of their renowned hits.
