Smiles for a better world
Our countrymen’s ability to still manage a smile despite the problems, calamities and tragedies that come our way never ceases to amaze Chilean Ambassador, Roberto Mayorga. At the 2nd Calidad Humana National Essay Photography Competition organized by the Embassy of Chile, the theme centered on the resiliency of the Filipinos. No less than the members of the diplomatic corps, Cabinet secretaries, and representatives of the project partners were present at the awarding of the winners of the “Smiles for the World†photo contest that took place during the National Day of Chile celebration held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP). Nearly 500 people attended the event that was graced by DFA Secretary Albert del Rosario, DOT Secretary Ramon Jimenez, Paulina Mayorga, Ambassadors Bill Tweddell of Australia and Constantina Koliou of Greece, and CCP president Raul Sunico. In essence, “Calidad Humana†or strength of character is what would make the difference between how the world is now and the future.
