A tribute to Cez Manalo

OH YES, IT'S JOHNNY! - Johnny Litton - The Philippine Star

For her achievements in culture and the arts, The Society for Cultural Enrichment, Inc. (SCEI), led by its chairman and president Helen Ong recognized Cecilia “Cez” Manalo in simple ceremonies held during the recent SCEI annual membership meeting.  Manalo is the honorary chairman and long-time trustee of the Manila Symphony Orchestra (MSO) and major benefactor and fund-raiser of the Philippine Research for Developing Instrumental Soloists (PREDIS).  She is married to a distinguished musician, Professor Basilio Manalo.  Two new members, Boy Restubog and Bing Carrion, were also inducted by Angola Consul Helen Ong that evening.

Get-together

Following years of active participation in several philanthropic groups and having established lasting friendships, several of Minerva Tanseco’s closest friends insisted on honoring her with a special celebration by hosting an intimate gathering at the home of Alice Briones where great fun and delicious food were enjoyed by the group.

A piece of heaven on earth

Well-known for their angelic voices and beautiful renditions of classical songs, the London-based, all-boys choir Libera returns to the country for a series of concerts entitled “Libera, Asia’s Best Loved Boys’ Choir.” The chart-topping “boy band” will serenade their fans in Manila on Oct. 29 at the PICC Plenary Hall and in Cebu on Oct. 31 at the Chapel of San Pedro Calungsod with songs including crowd-favorite Bayan Ko, Orinoco Flow, Angel From On High and even favorite Christmas carols like Silent Night, Joy To The World and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. Both concerts will start at 8 p.m. For tickets, call TicketWorld at 891-9999 or visit www.ticketworld.com.ph. For Cebu ticket inquiries, call Arts Council Cebu at (032) 233-0452, 0917-328-7917 or inquire online through artscouncilcebu@ymail.com or artscouncilcebu@gmail.com.

A bigger, better B Hotel

Business and leisure travelers in Quezon City will get to savor the unique experience of a stay in a Bellevue Hotels & Resorts (BH&R) property soon.  BH&R has broken ground for the construction of a second B Hotel at 14 Scout Rallos St. in Diliman, Quezon City.  The B Hotel simplifies hotel living for business travelers looking for comfortable, no-frills accommodations.  The latest addition to BH&R’s roster of properties is projected to be a four-star hotel compared to the original B Hotel, a three-star boutique businessman’s hotel located at Madrigal Business Park in Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa City. Architects, contractors and project managers attended the recent ground-breaking ceremony that was led by BH&R chairman Johnny Chan. General contractor for the B Hotel in Quezon City is Megawide Construction, while Ecta Architects & Interior Design is in charge of project design.  Waiting in great anticipation for the opening day!
