A carnaval for charity
MANILA, Philippines - Approaching a hundred and still going strong is the Catholic Women’s Club (CWC). For 92 years, the organization has been known to lend a hand in outreach programs such as scholarships, environmental stewardship, building homes for the poor as well as the mentally challenged, and other activities for the welfare of orphans, the handicapped and the elderly. To continue in its mission, the CWC is set to hold a Latin dance festival at the Main Lounge of the Manila Polo Club. The CWC ladies practiced early and have now mastered their rumba, cha-cha, samba, pachanga and zumba numbers for the September 27 fund-raising event that promises to be a Brazilian street party reminiscent of the Carnaval de Alegria in Rio de Janiero. More power to CWC chairman Tessie Amparo and president Maritess Pineda! Tickets are available at the CWC office at the Santuario de San Antonio Parish.
