The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Dubbed “the Sugarbowl of the Philippines,” Negros Occidental is known for its sprawling sugar plantations, vast mills, and the sweet disposition of its people..

Talisay City in Negros Occidental recently welcomed Ayala Malls’ The District North Point as part of Ayala Land’s  first fully integrated master-planned community in Negros.

A standout with its distinctive contemporary architecture, The District sits on a 215-hectare property with residential homes, a school, and business and recreational facilities. Committing to help foster the Negrense community, this mixed-used development will soon be home to offices aimed at providing quality jobs, a safe haven for families to live in, and a place to shop, dine and be entertained. Connecting the towns of Silay, Talisay, and Bacolod, The District North Point aims to provide,  convenience, comfort and community that will make it everyones Hub.

Ayala Land president Tony  Aquino, Ayala Land executive vice president and group head of residential and commercial business Bobby Dy, senior vice president and group head of VisMin Emilio Tumbocon, VP Rowena Tomeldan, VP Cora Dizon, and AVP Clavel Tongco together with Talisay City Mayor Eric Saratan and Vice Mayor Niel Lizares officially opened the mall on April 3.

Leading the local line up for retail  are fashion names such as Bench, Human, Kashieka  and Penshoppe together with National Book Store. Metro Hypermart will address the shoppers need for basic shopping.  Foreign labels are also joining, giving its shoppers more retail options. Soon-to-open Timezone will surely add fun in every malling experience. It is also home to a unique mix of dining establishments, conveniently facing the verdant landscape and giving an al fresco wine and dine experience. Dining choices such as  Starbucks, Sumosam, Yellow Cab, Tater’s, Army Navy, Seafood Island  and soon-to-open Breadtalk are on board.

Regional enterprises are also located here. Sample the famous guapple and coconut pie as well as the delicious Masa Podrida from El Ideal, a family owned local pastry favorite since 1920s. Virgie’s best-selling napoleones, galletas, and mango tarts are also now available at The District. Started as a home based business to earn additional income in 1974, Virgie Chua’s sweets shop has since become a household name for delectable pastries.

Bringing in the signature Ayala Malls’ brand of customer service plus a selection popular and homegrown brands to the heart of Negros Occidental, The District promises to give convenience, comfort and community.
