With a big haul of 15 awards at the Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards held in Singapore, Dusit Thani Manila’s general manager Prateek Kumar has more reasons to smile these days. It was the highest number of awards won among the hotels in Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines. Among the platinum awards won by Dusit Thani Manila were “Hotel of the Year”, “Hotel Excellence Award for Philippines”, “Service Excellence Hotel Award” and “General Manager of the Year.” The awards were based on mystery audits conducted by a panel of judges over six months and included hotels and spas from ASEAN countries. Prateek said the accomplishments will motivate him and the hotel staff to continuously exceed guests’ expectations through the unique synthesis of Thai hospitality and Filipino geniality that can only be found at Dusit.

Niccolo captivates Puerto Galera

Attendees of the recently concluded Malasimbo Art Festival 2012 in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro have been raving about the artistic concept behind the massive 14-foot twig sculpture created by remarkable Studio 10.10 resident artist, furniture designer and sculptor Niccolo Jose. The ingenious masterpiece stood at the center of the island, filling the public with awe and wonder throughout the festivities. Guests were more impressed upon learning that Niccolo made the sculpture on the spot. The artist, with his refreshing ideas and admirable passion for his craft, picked up thousands of local wood and twigs from within the island then started the creative process of bending the branches and combining them together to build this gigantic twig sculpture.
