What 4,000 pairs of shoes can do

OH YES, IT'S JOHNNY! - Johnny Litton -

It was heartwarming to see children smiling from ear to ear — this was the delightful outcome after 4,000 pairs of shoes were donated by kind-hearted couple Ramon Shing and Julie Shing to the EJ Litton Foundation Inc. A non-profit organization with a mission to help cancer-stricken children who cannot afford treatment as well as educate those who are underprivileged. The EJ Litton Foundation, through its president Tess Litton,

was more than glad to accept the donation in behalf of its beneficiaries. The shoes were distributed to various organizations: Bukas Palad Foundation Inc., White Cross, Makabata School Foundation Inc., Alay Kapwa, Bahay Maria and the San Antonio Parish for the people affected by Typhoon Sendong. Those who would like to share their resources in line with the foundation’s advocacies may call Janet Oria at 844-9101.

A party for charity’s sake

Felix and Tessie Amparo, Lil Dominguez with Et and Ric Librea

Looking back at her life, Tessie Amparo saw that all her fervent prayers — for the well-being of her loved ones, peace of mind, security and contentment at this stage in her life — have been answered. She really could not ask for anything more. So, when Felix, her husband of 40 years, asked what gift she wanted for her 71st birthday, Tessie opted for a simple gathering at her house among family and close friends who share her passion for charitable causes. Tessie requested her guests to make voluntary donations to help build a church for the students of Our Lady of Mediatrix Institute in Quezon province. This is Tessie’s way of giving back and sharing what sincere prayers have brought her.
