Create your own Oktoberfest with Rustan's Supermarket

-

MANILA, Philippines - If there are two things most associated with German culture, it would have to be sausages and beer. Germany is home to the famous Oktoberfest, an annual gathering dubbed as the largest beer festival in the world. What else would make the experience tastier than its signature sausages?

Until Oct. 31, Rustan’s Supermarket is holding “Prost,” which means “toast,” offering a selection of German sausages and beer for you to create your own Oktoberfest.

Originating from Munich where the first-ever celebration was held in honor of the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig (who later became King Ludwig I) and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen, Oktoberfest is now celebrated all over the world. Millions of liters of beer are downed along with countless sausages and rolls everywhere during the 16-day celebration.

This month, Rustan’s Supermarket is offering Oktoberfest must-haves such as Hungarian, cheese Hungarian, cervelat, weinerli, cocktail franks, frankfurters, veal bratwurst, cocktail Hungarian, St. Galler schublig and nuremberger.

To complete the feast is the other essential component of an Oktoberfest celebration: beer. Rustan’s Supermarket offers a wide range including Asian, Belgian, US, Canadian and Australian variants, on top of its German selection.

The fair offers freshly cooked sausages served with a choice of potato salad or sauerkraut, while sampling an assortment of local and German beer from 4 to 9 p.m. Also available is a variety of German breads including the famous brez’n or pretzel.

There will also be a grand raffle, where two lucky winners will be picked to experience the food trip of a lifetime via roundtrip tickets (plus pocket money) to Frankfurt, Germany. Other prizes include special gift baskets with imported German goodies.
