MANILA, Philippines - To commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11, National Geographic Channel will feature a series of television premieres starting on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. Seconds from Disaster: 9/11 rolls back the harrowing footage, scours evidence and analyzes newly uncovered firsthand accounts to expose exactly why the world’s biggest and most expensive security network could not stop the 9/11 hijackers. 9/11 and The American Dream delves into the highly personal, heart-rending global stories of survivors and family members who lost loved ones on 9/11. George W. Bush: The 9/11 Interview opens a new window into the former US president’s personal account, with never-before-released archival footage and exclusive materials directly from the George W. Bush Presidential Library. Finally, Inside 9/11: The War Continues is an exclusive, in-depth look at the war on terror, including the killing of Osama bin Laden by American Special Forces.
This commemorative lineup presents a revealing, dynamic look at 9/11 — why it happened, how it has transformed the world, as well as the heroic successes and shortcomings of the war on terror. Graphic footage and exclusive interviews take us back to that fateful morning to hear from FAA agents who tracked the rogue airliners minutes before impact and the military officers and F-16 pilots tasked with stopping them. Touching firsthand accounts of people working in the World Trade Towers when the planes struck are featured, along with in-depth interviews with George W. Bush, what he was thinking and feeling and what drove his decisions in the first minutes, hours and days after the attacks. Inside 9/11: The War Continues examines the changing face of Al-Qaeda, the emergence of other nascent terrorist organizations around the globe and hears from intelligence operatives who constantly combat the ever-present threat of another terrorist attack.
Each hour-long special will be broadcast back-to-back on National Geographic Channel during the historic date of Sept. 11 starting at 8 p.m. local time.
