Greenbelt chapel celebrates 28th founding anniversary

MANILA, Philippines - Sto. Niño de Paz Community-Greenbelt Chapel will celebrate its 28th founding anniversary on July 20, Wednesday, with the theme “Thanksgiving and Renewal.”

The late Fanny del Rosario-Diploma and husband Atty. Nordy Diploma built the dome-shaped chapel dedicated to the working people of Makati City. Built at the center of Greenbelt Park in Ayala Center with the support of Ayala Corporation, the private chapel was inaugurated by the late Jaime Cardinal Sin on July 28, 1983.

His Grace, The Most Reverend Jose S. Palma, D.D., Archbishop of Cebu, will preside at the concelebrated anniversary Mass on July 20 at 6pm with chaplain, Reverend Father Rufino C. Sescon, Jr. and guest priests.

Most Rev. Palma is the incoming president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

Thanksgiving activities begin with Triduum Masses on July 17, Sunday, 6pm with Most Rev. Ruben T. Profugo, D.D., Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Lucena, Quezon; July 18, Monday, 5:45pm with Most Rev. Elenito R. Galido, D.D., Bishop of the Diocese of Iligan, Lanao del Norte; and July 19, Tuesday, 5:45pm with Most Rev. Jose R. Rojas Jr., D.D., Bishop of the Diocese of Libmanan, Camarines Sur

Former chaplain, Rev. Fr. Eligio R. Santos, SDB, president of Don Bosco Center of Studies, will speak on the topic, “Renewed by the Fountain of Grace”, during the anniversary talk on July 18, Monday, after the 7PM Mass.

The community can also view the anniversary photo exhibit until July 31 presented by the Information Group in cooperation with Makati-based Prize Photo Club. Participating photographers are Aris Abalos, Lindy Barbosa, Tina Montalban, Maricel Rañola, Rommel Torres and Lhor Santillan.

Greenbelt Chapel celebrates the Holy Mass daily and offers confession and counseling services throughout the week, monthly community talks, annual retreats and pilgrimages and worship, healing and renewal through its Emmanuel Catholic Charismatic Community. More than 500 volunteer serve at the Chapel.

Since 1995, Greenbelt Chapel’s Love-A-Parish Program (LAPP), its flagship social outreach, has assisted more than 400 poor parishes in 79 dioceses in the country as well as charitable institutions like the Missionaries of Charity of Mother Teresa, the Poor Clares and Caritas Manila.
