'Tuklas Sining' with Grupo Reposo
MANILA, Philippines- Grupo Reposo holds a street art and culture festival on May 28 from 10 a.m., at LRI Design Plaza, Nicanor Garcia Street (formerly Reposo), Barangay Bel-Air II, Makati City.
With the theme “Tuklas Sining,” the event is in conjunction with the month-long Araw ng Makati celebration.
The fun-filled event will showcase on-the-spot painting sessions, books, crafts, and arts bazaar, Alliance Francaise’s French films screening, art and culture lecture series, and food discovery booths featuring gourmet cuisine by top chefs.
From 4 p.m. onwards, there will be entertainment hosted by actress-singer Pinky Amador. Featured performers are stand-up comedian Jon Santos who will play Armida Siguion Macareina; Rox Puno (son of Rico J. Puno) and his band, Heber Bartolome, the UP Singing Ambassadors, Noel Cabangon, Pinoy Hip Hop Dancers, and Teatro Ambahanon of General Santos City. Ferdinand Cacnio will open his show of 18 artworks at 6 p.m. at LRI Pavilion.
Initiated by Grupo Reposo, the annual street art, culture, and food festival has become one of the most-awaited events in the city.
“We’re surprised to discover that real-estate projects being done in nearby streets like the Jazz Residences have included Grupo Reposo as part of their appeal. It means we’re contributing something positive to the city of Makati,” says Toni Lo of LRI Design Plaza, which houses 35 stores showcasing interior design, architecture, lifestyle furniture, antiques, paintings, dance school, photography studios, and specialty restaurants.
Grupo Reposo Inc. is founded by gallery owner Ed Soler as a non-profit organization of artists and gallery/store owners based in LRI, and other establishments whose buildings are located along Nicanor Garcia Street (formerly Reposo), Barangay Bel-Air II, Makati City.
“On May 28, a bigger part of the street fronting LRI Design Plaza building will be closed to traffic for the day-long festival,” says Soler.
This year’s “Tuklas Sining” is sponsored by the City Government of Makati, SM Development Corporation,the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and LRI Design Plaza.
