Stormtroopers & other runners in Globe's Run 4 Home

-

Manila, Philippines - A whole galaxy of runners of various looks, shapes, ages, and sizes converged at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig for the Globe Run 4 Home 2011, touted to be one of the biggest running events in the country, hoping to help provide much-needed shelter to those in need.

Globe Run 4 Home 2011 gathered close to 8,000 runners coming from different backgrounds — corporate, sports, business, entertainment, lifestyle, among many others. The most recognizable celebrities, from show business to industry captains, octogenarians, foreigners, barkadas in costumes (a group wearing bee-like gear, and even the dreaded “Stormtroopers”), and families participated in the Globe R4H because they knew that the event was more than a run, it was a run for life.

Despite differences in look, size, personality or race category, solidarity filled their hearts and minds as they united to help build decent housing for marginalized Filipinos. This made the four target beneficiaries of Globe Run 4 Home 2011—Gawad Kalinga, Habitat for Humanity Philippines, Haribon Foundation and Virlanie Foundation—even happier, knowing that when called upon, Filipinos are more than willing to lend a helping hand.

The Stormtroopers elicited the most attention from onlookers and even race participants themselves by running in spectacular costumes.
Ayala Corporation president and COO Fernando Zobel de Ayala joins more than 7,000 runners who participated in the Globe Run 4 Home 2011.
