The rainy season scourge: Dengue outbreak!

-

MANILA, Philippines - There are products that prevent the spread of dengue from various transmission points. The world’s leading chemical company, BASF, and its exclusive distributor of non-crop products in the Philippines, Upgreen Corporation, offer household pest products, Abate and Fendona. Both products effectively thwart a range of nuisances and diseases by controlling mosquito population in households and communities.

Abate intervenes at the source through extermination of mosquito larva, before they become adult. Approved by the World Health Organization and the local health department, Abate can be applied to water containers like flower vases, water canals, swamps, and other areas where mosquitoes breed. It is a cost-efficient preventive measure against dengue, available in 100-gram sachets. Fendona, which is WHO and DOH-approved, is fast-acting and safely eliminates adult mosquitoes and other illness-causing crawling and flying insects. Used as surface spray, Fendona is available in two formulations: 1.5 SC in one-liter size and five WP in 30-gram sachets.

Abate and Fendona are two of the most effective tools against dengue and insect-borne diseases. When applied in tandem with good household habits and community initiatives like regular cleanups and clearing of potential breeding grounds for mosquitoes, we can start feeling empowered against the dreaded dengue disease especially during rainy months.
