Building their success on trust
Further strengthening its position as one of the largest branch networks among foreign banks in the country, Chinatrust Philippines, a subsidiary of the largest and most awarded private commercial bank in Taiwan, recently celebrated the inauguration and blessing of its new head office and branch at The Fort Legend Towers in Taguig City. Visionary Chinatrust Philippines president Mark Chen and dynamic vice chairman William Go led the well-attended affair. Congratulations!
The Lewis miracle
Leslie Lewis Sword, daughter of iconic entrepreneur Reginald Lewis and Filipino-American lawyer Loida Nicolas-Lewis, recently staged the play Miracle in Rwanda at the Insular Life Auditorium in Ayala Avenue, Makati City. The play is about the life of Immaculee Ilibagiza, a survivor of the 91-day genocide in Africa and how she transformed from being a woman filled with hatred and anger into a forgiving one after the death of her brothers and parents. The play was attended by the country’s prominent personalities such as Senator Frank Drilon, major sponsor PLDT Smart Foundation led by executive director Butch Meily, US Ambassador to the Asian Development Bank Curtis Chin and University of the Philippines Alumni Association (UPAA) president general Jaime delos Santos, among many others, the one-woman act shows how Leslie is continually inspired by the extraordinary experiences of the main character and how she uses her talents as a way of giving back to others as what was imparted to her by her father’s philanthropic works.
From composition to painting
The visually captivating works of Ramon Tabuena, known as one of the pioneers of cubism in Asia and a prominent name in the Philippine Neo-Realist movement, were recently displayed at Artist Space in Ayala Museum, Makati. The opening reception of the exhibit was well-attended by members of the diplomatic and consular corps as well as other important guests such as Embassy of Venezuela chargé d’ affaires Manuel Iturbe Perez, Philippine Ambassador to the United Kingdom Tonette Lagdameo, Guatemala Consul Mellie Ablaza, Filipino Heritage Festival director Bambi Harper, Ayala Museum director Guillermo Luz and Philippine Ambassador to the Court of St. James Antonio Lagdameo. The exhibition let Filipinos appreciate and learn more about the role of art in the country’s development.
