Simply fantabulous!

SAVOIR FAIRE - Mayenne Carmona -

Tatler just celebrated its eighth anniversary with their yearly Tatler Ball and the beneficiary of their charity this year is the Pink for Life Foundation, to give aid to women suffering from breast cancer. The Tatler chooses different beneficiaries yearly. Last year, the charity they chose was Synergia, which aims to improve the quality of basic education in the public grade school of Silang, Cavite by training and educating teachers at Grade 1 to Grade 6 levels. All of us have our favorite charities and we tend to give to the same charity all the time because of lack of awareness of other deserving charities. The Tatler group makes it a point that their yearly ball gives to different beneficiaries.

One thing I can say about the yearly Tatler Ball is that it is always fantabulous! Mrs. Irene Francisco, publisher, and editor-in-chief Anton San Diego make sure that no stone is left unturned to ensure the enjoyment of the guests. Every detail is carefully penciled in, from the cocktails served prior to the ball, to the carefully chosen menu with correct choice of wines and champagne, the entertainment portion where there is always a popular singer and a great band, and lastly, the loot bags that every guest happily takes home when they leave the ball. This year the entertainer of choice was no less than Broadway star Leah Salonga, and the band was the Spirit of ‘67, who kept the party at a high energy level with their catchy tunes that drew the many dance aficionados to the dance floor till the wee hours of the morning.

My friends and I love to go to the Tatler Ball as it renews our awareness of the different philanthropic endeavors that are worth patronizing. At the same time, it is an evening of great entertainment, delicious dinner, and an enjoyable occasion to see our town’s beautiful ladies dressed up in fabulous gowns. The Tatler Ball is a showcase of the talent of our country’s up-and-coming and well-known designers who dress up their favorite muses and models. One thing for sure — our country is not lacking in creative dress designers and can compete with world-class couturiers judging from the gowns that I saw that night. Another surefire thing: our town has many beautiful women of all ages who love to dress to the nines. By the same token, it is such a delight to see the men dressed up in their black ties. There are not too many events in the country that require this and the Tatler Ball is one of them.

One highlight of the Tatler Ball is the auction part where the proceeds go to charity as well. This year, the items auctioned were a Cartier Humidor donated by Rustan’s; a round-trip first-class ticket by Thai Airways to any destination in Europe; a Sea Master Omega Watch; a Mauro Malang painting; and an Impy Pilapil artwork.

The evening was a delightful way to usher in the holiday season and a fun evening to spend with friends.
