At the peak of life at 75
A memorable event recently took place at the Shangri-La Makati’s Rizal Ballroom where the affable, distinguished Senator Edgardo Angara launched his Mapping the Philippines coffee-table book and advocacy campaign dubbed “OMG” (Oh My Gulay!), both coinciding with the celebration of his 75th birthday.
The senator’s family were on hand to show their love and support, led by his lovely wife, Gloria, son, Congressman Sonny and grandchildren Nessy, Ines and Manolo. Members of the diplomatic corps, colleagues from the Senate and House of Representatives such as Senators Loren Legarda, Franklin Drilon, Robert Jaworski, Miguel Zubiri and Richard Gordon, House Speaker Prospero Nograles, Congressman Teddy Locsin, close friends from the academe and, society, business figures and old friends such as National Artists Billy Abueva and Sionil Jose, had a great time as they were serenaded by Sarah Geronimo and the world-renowned UP Singing Ambassadors.
Capping off the night was a short speech by the celebrator as he thanked everyone for their continued support and encouraged them to uphold his poverty alleviation advocacies.
Happy birthday and more power, Ed!
