Golfing beyond first class

I have attended countless golf tournaments before but because of its most prestigious appeal, the much anticipated Mercedes Trophy 2009 is certainly among the top. Held recently at the fabulous Sta. Elena Golf Club in Laguna, the Merce-desTrophy 2009, now in its 19th year (4th year in the Philippines) plays host annually to thousands of golfers worldwide. The past 18 years of MercedesTrophy have left a mark among Mercedes-Benz owners who love the game of golf and whose fondness for it approximates the passion for their sporty and super stylish Mercedes-Benz cars. Led by CATS Motors chairman Greg Yu and president Felix Ang, the tournament has grown bigger and better with more players and sponsors joining each year. Prizes included a Mercedes-Benz E-Class E 300, a Canon 5D Mark II kit and big oversized TW Steel watches, all as hole-in-one prizes. CATS Motors, the exclusive distributor of Mercedes-Benz in the Philippines, hosted the national elimination round of this much-awaited amateur golf tournament together with Philippine Airlines, PLDT Business Solutions, and Smart Infinity, to name a few.  

Construction Inc. vice president Danilo “Junjun” Suarez was the Class A champion, Agojo Batangas Corp president Manolo Agojo went home with the Class B trophy while Batangas coffee grower and Nuevo Milenio chairman Jose Mercado bagged the Class C title. In the ladies division, Sandy Prieto-Romualdez emerged the winner and Mikey Ozaeta of Smart Infinity won first place in the sponsors division. Winners will be off to represent the country in the Asian regional finals in Brisbane, Australia in August 2009. Mercedes Trophy Finals will be held in Stuttgart, Germany in late September 2009.
