A cool way to heatproof your home

-

MANILA, Philippines - As summer beckons, how do we catch some cool breeze and escape from the scorching heat of the sun? Did you know that you can vastly reduce the heat in your home by means of applying a heat repellant paint such as Kooltex?

According to medical statistics, summer is when most people suffer from heat exhaustion and worst, heat stroke, a serious medical condition that often leads to death. “This is why people should protect their homes from the summer heat by applying a heat repellant roof paint such as Kooltex,” says SFO2 Jose Javier of the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Using Kooltex heat repellant roof and wall paint reduces the heat in homes while saving on huge electricity costs. Kooltex, a product of Destiny Paints, is a simple and cheap way of reducing the effects of heat as it reflects 50 percent of the radiated heat of the sun. The product’s breakthrough cooling feature has been proven effective by scientific tests including simulated miniature house models. Two miniature houses’ roofs were painted with an ordinary paint and Kooltex respectively. Two light bulbs were used to simulate the heat coming from the sun. After a few minutes of exposure to the light bulbs, temperature sensors situated inside each house measured the internal heat. The astounding result shows that the Kooltex coated house’s internal temperature was reduced to almost 50 percent as compared to the ordinarily painted house.

“This actual temperature test was done numerous times with other leading brands of paint and time and again, Kooltex was proven to cool the interiors by half,” says Luis Martinez, marketing consultant of Paradise Chemicals, makers of Kooltex.

Kooltex’s effectivity stems from its ability to deflect the heat of the sun at times where it is at its peak— during midday and afternoon. As a result, the interiors below the Kooltex-applied roofs are much cooler even at night since the trapped heat between the roof and the ceiling is also decreased.

Pelonio Santos, a businessman, says his savings from electric consumption for air-conditioning were really significant. “After I applied Kooltex in my house, I never used my aircon especially during the day because the interiors became cooler and therefore more comfortable. Imagine the savings I made from not using this electricity- hungry device during the hottest times of the day,” he enthuses.

According to Martinez, Kooltex is a versatile heat repellant. It can also be applied to poultry and pigsty sheds for healthier pigs and chickens; to vans, jeepneys and buses to make passengers more comfortable during trips; and to gasoline and diesel tanks to slow down evaporation.

Kooltex comes as a system that includes Kooltex primer and Kooltex topcoats. It is available in attractive and popular colors such as Spanish red, Baguio green, and terra cotta to suit the various design preferences of customers.

Kooltex is part of the Destiny Paints line which includes Flame Shield Fire Retardant, Destiny Premium Elastomeric Paint, Liquid Bond (Cement Enhancer and Waterproofing Compound), and Bluseal Elastomeric Sealant. It is manufactured by Paradise Chemicals, a trusted name in paints, primers, coatings, and sealants. For product details, call 818-3011 and 892-7067.
