Dreams to transfigure our interiors
Last season was a very conscientious one, with designers making an effort to save the planet with the objects and interiors they created. It was the shock of reality, with a sobering effect on the look of the home.
This time, however, trend forecasters at the Maison & Objet in Paris are saying, “Hey, it’s time to take flight and dream again!” They’re telling us to get off the beaten track, to a world away from old clichés, daring us to start from scratch by imagining a different future.
Preoccupied with our workaday world, it’s time to let our dreams transfigure reality: the metamorphosis of things in perpetual motion. Hybrids, both bizarre and poetic. Strange, smiling mutants that endlessly enchant us. New energies are creating a new wave of unexpected aesthetics, inventing a very singular way of living that impertinently eschews the hegemony of pre-formatted interiors and the tyranny of prescribed desires. Imagination is taking over again, turning our homes into onirique (dreamy) interiors, which flush out all boredom and banality.
