Fun in fur

When you watch a fashion show what do you look out for?
I watch out for the animals the people and their costumes next. That is, if I am able to catch a glimpse of the people before they walk off the stage.
And thats how it was when I caught Furry Tales 2, which was co-sponsored by the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) and Philippine STAR Pet Life, at SM Megamall last Saturday.
I watched Furry Tales last year where they featured traditional fairy tales. This year, director Rich Ilustre opted to go for a little more stylish presentation, which combined famous personalities from TV, literature and the movies Winx Fairies, Mulawin, Moulin Rouge, Sesame Street, The Simple Life, Pirates of the Caribbean, Golden Girls, Lara Croft, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Finding Nemo, and more.
It was fun watching how the dogs, cats, cockatoo, orangutan and rabbits behaved as they were either walked or carried down the catwalk. But more interesting was how well-poised the models were as they smiled at the antics of the animals.
The crowd that gathered was touched by the short film produced by PAWS which gave us a glimpse of the many projects PAWS has undertaken for the benefit of animals. The best part of Furry Tales, for us pet lovers, was the fact that all the models came out for the love of animals as the proceeds of the show went to PAWS Rehabilitation Center. "If you love animals, you should come and visit PARC in Marikina," said PAWS director Anna Cabrera.
Indeed.
If you didnt catch the show, make sure you do next year. Here are all the wonderful photos to show you just what you missed.
The other sponsors for the show this year were Powerbooks Specialty Store, Globe, Pedigree and Whiskas, Tokyo Tokyo, Penshoppe, Nestle Koko Crunch, The Java Man, Samson and Mom, Urban Spa, DEO BC Salon, Maveric Vision Internaitonal, Listerine and Mellow Touch 94.7.
