Seminar on flower arrangement set

Jasam Floral Sundries and Smithers-Oasis present a floral demonstration/seminar entitled "Kaleidoscope of Colors — Great Designs for Greater Peso Signs." At the seminar, world-renowned and Baguio-born botanical architect Richard Go will create floral designs which will cater to Filipino consumer tastes. Go, famous for the ingenious use of plants and planting materials, will inspire seminar participants with the latest in contemporary table designs and floral compositions for weddings and gala events.

The seminar will be held on July 12 at the Legend Villas, 60 Pioneer corner Madison St., Mandaluyong City, and at the Holiday Plaza Hotel, Cebu City on July 16. A float-construction demo sponsored by the World Flower Council will be held on July 13.

The topics in the workshop are:

• Practical use of colored foam

• Benefits, cost cutting and effectiveness in floral designing

• New trends from around the world

• Easy designs that generate profit in less time

• Wrapping techniques

• What’s new in cable ties

• The florist’s essential sundry item

• Floral techniques and sisal uses

• What to do with foliage scraps

Go is an award-winning international designer, floral consultant, wedding and functions coordinator as well as a botanical architect by trade. He started his career in the Philippines while still in college taking up Veterinary Medicine. He found his calling as a floral artist 20 years ago. Richard spent most of his time sharing his florist knowledge and skills in Australia and many other countries. He has held demos and workshops in Australia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, US, Japan, Germany and New Zealand. He is also a full-time teacher at the Western Sydney Institute of Technology and Further Education (TAFE) and Richmond College.

Go will also be the featured designer at the Ellerslie Flower Show in New Zealand and is the program presenter at the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) national symposium in Seattle, US. Richard was the feature designer at Sydney’s Garden Show last April-May and the Trends and Techniques designers at the Floravision NZ 40th anniversary of the Floral Art Society of New Zealand in Hamilton, NZ, held last April 5. He was a bronze award winner at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show last April.

At the 116th Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, CA, US, Richard will design floats.
