Let there be light

OH YES, IT'S JOHNNY! - Johnny Litton -
The purveyor of fine tastes in home and office furniture, FurnItalia, brings the light back to dull and dreary spaces. The exclusive distributor of upscale Italian furniture brands introduces Fontana Arte, designer lamps and lighting fixtures for every style and taste.

Fontana Arte has been in the glass fixture industry for more than a century, having been directly affiliated with the historic glassmakers Luigi Fontana in Milan, which was founded in 1881. It was established in 1932 as a key unit of the firm and has since been known for its countless inventions in the field of household furnishings. Today, the company is famous for its table, wall, floor and suspension lamps conceptualized by Italy’s distinguished design icons, such as Gio Ponti and Rodolfo Dordoni.

"The Fontana Arte products we have at FurnITalia are more than lamps, they are expressions of a culture obsessed with beauty and beautiful things. Every home maker should know that lighting is just as crucial as the choice of color and furniture in building their homes," FurnItalia managing director Florence Ko said.

Fresh stocks of Fontana Arte lights are the newest additions to the FurnItalia showroom. Other premier Italian furniture brands used by royalty, movie stars and international designers on display at the showroom include Poltrona Frau, Galli, Longhi, Comfort, Fiam, Penta and Molteni & C.

Visit the Poltrona Frau showroom at FurnItalia, Designmix Building, 59 Connecticut St., Northeast Greenhills, San Juan, or call 722-0156 and 722-0389.
Nature’s Best At Camp John Hay In The Rainy Season
Throngs of visitors, your columnist included, go to Camp John Hay in Baguio to experience the grandeur of the lush pine forest and spring-like weather of this highland paradise.

Although summer is the traditional time for visiting Camp John Hay, the best time to visit is actually during the rainy season. The month of June and onwards is when the pine cones of the famed Benguet pine trees of Baguio reach their maturity stage. The pine cones start falling down to the ground, adorning the forest locale with a lush brown carpet. The bracing scent of pines is manifest in the cool air, giving it a refreshing fragrance.

Rainy season is also when the cool air of Camp John Hay is at its cleanest and freshest. The atmosphere at Camp John Hay is wonderfully foggy and chilly, definitely a different, yet refreshing experience compared to the heat and smog of the metro.

The area is abundant with parks and lush gardens from which families can sample the Camp John Hay rainy season experience. It’s a good time to explore Camp John Hay’s Eco-Trail, which features a botanical preserve that leads deep into the pine forest. When the rains stop, visitors can indulge in fun and healthy outdoor activities such as picnicking, hiking, and camping. Some other places to visit are the Art Park where people can enjoy viewing and participating in art activities, the Butterfly Park that houses a wide variety of butterflies, the Mini Golf course, and the stables where visitors can enjoy horseback riding.

This coming rainy season, include Camp John Hay in your vacation itinerary, and invigorate your senses with the Camp John Hay experience. For inquiries, call the CJH Development Corporation Manila office at 637-6966 or their Baguio office at (074) 442-7902 to 08.

See you at Camp John Hay!
