Shangri-Las outdoor dining and entertainment center, Streetscape, opened with a bang recently with the presence of sultry Brazilian singer Ive Mendes. Despite the wet weather, the skies cleared in time for the concert featuring Shangri-La celebrity endorser Pops Fernandez, Latin showbands Piñacolada and Guarana, and the much-awaited Brazilian diva.
Streetscape has a relaxing tropical atmosphere with a lush landscape, as well as a diverse mix of casual and fine-dining establishments. Starbucks, Via Mare, Gloria Maris, Red Crab, Mini Shabu-shabu, Dome, California Pizza Kitchen, Whistle Stop and Watering Hole offer guests a plethora of dining choices. For those who prefer dining al fresco, Crepes de France, Boca Boca Wine Bar, Cinnzeo and International Sushi Bar are definitely the places to go.

Sweet Adieus for Departing Ambassador
A spate of intimate farewell parties took place throughout society Manila upon hearing of the reassignment of the much-loved Canadian Ambassador Robert Collette and his wife Marilyn. One of these parties was thrown by the lovely Monaco Consul Fortune Ledesma and the beautiful Agnes Huibonhua.
It certainly was a delightful gathering that saw the attendance of prominent names in the diplomatic corps. The reception was filled with gay laughter and fond recollections, with a warm atmosphere that can only be felt among dearest friends. The honoree, on the other hand, was thoroughly moved by the presence of those who grew near to his heart.
Seen wishing the ambassador well were a number of consuls including Evie Costa of Togo, George Yang of Seychelles, Helen Ong of Belize, Miguel Guerrero of Jamaica, Vince Carlos of Ivory Coast; ambassadors including Mario and Sylvia Schuff of Argentina, Mohamed Taufik of Malaysia, Kheng Hua Lim of Singapore, Christian Krepela of Austria, Ariya Rekawa of Sri Lanka, M. Munir-Uz of Bangladesh, Paul Dimond of Britain, Claudio Lyra of Brazil, Christian Tanghe of Belgium and Jan de Kok of EU, among many others.
Farewell, dear Robert and to Marilyn, we are delighted that you decided to stay on!
