A quest for civic-mindedness

OH YES, IT'S JOHNNY! - Johnny Litton -
Sometimes, there’s nothing more stimulating than a fresh, young girl – as an epitome of grace, purity and goodness.

Every year, the civic-minded Question Mark Club of Hagonoy, Bulacan selects a youthful muse for her pro-poor initiatives and crowns this lady in a fund-raising event. For its grand 54th anniversary, the club kept the worthwhile tradition alive by holding a fabulously staged dinner-dance dubbed "May Dreams Come True." The proceeds from the dinner would be used for the improvement of the Tahanang Mapapala II home for the elderly in Malolos, Bulacan, and the emergency ward of the Emilio Perez Hospital in Hagonoy, Bulacan. With veteran actress Boots Anson-Roa as host, the baronial party drew luminaries such as Foreign Affairs Secretary Blas Ople, whose dedicated wife Susan is the head of Question Mark Club; Senator Panfilo Lacson as guest of honor; House Speaker Jose de Venecia; and Mexican Ambassador Enrique Hubbard.

This year’s muse with a charitable heart is Estelle Ople Osorio, 16-year-old granddaughter of Secretary Ople. She was crowned as muse by the charismatic Gina de Venecia, the mild-mannered Helen Gamboa-Sotto and club chairman Ephraim Genuino. After the pageant-like ceremonies, the club’s gorgeous couples (no longer as innocent as Estelle, but still committed to charity) conquered the floor in a well-choreographed rigodon de honor that swept back to the surface memories of the good ol’ days and parties.

Our praises go to the officers and members of the Question Mark Club for holding another dinner-dance that would surely make dreams come true for the least of our brethren!
