DIY Halloween makeup using common household items
MANILA, Philippines — Rule number one: "Halloween costumes do not need to be expensive to be impressive."
Instead of rushing to a store to get tons of makeup or paying a professional to gross-ify your face, why don't you rummage on those old clothes and simply look around the house?
For all you know, baking soda and Elmer's Glue are all you need to have the most terrifying makeup you could ever have.
For those who does not feel like spending too much for their #MUOTN, here are some simple tricks by WonderHowTo.com involving common household items:
For white base
Ingredients:
- 2 tsp. of white shortening
- 5 tsp. of cornstarch
- 1 tsp. of flour
- glycerin
Instructions:
- Mix together the white shortening,cornstarch and flour in one bowl.
- Add three drops of glycerin and continue mixing.
- Apply to face or neck. The base is perfect if you want to be a skeleton or zombie.
For fake wounds
Ingredients:
- Blue, purple, black, green, yellow, red markers
- Gel hand sanitize
Instructions:
- Use the pens to draw an outline of the bruises. Play with the colors to get the perfect appearance.
- Blend the colors using gel hand sanitizer.
For rotting skin
Ingredients:
- Tissue rolls
- Elmer's glue
- Face paint
Instructions:
- Spread thinly small amount of the glue on your face.
- Put small squares of tissue on your face
- After covering face with tissue, put the paint as desired.
For fake blood

Ingredients:
- Cornstarch/flour
- Corn syrup
- Red, blue, green food coloring
Instructions:
- Combine 1 part of water and 3 parts of corn syrup.
- Add drops of food coloring until desired color is achieved.
- Add flour to thicken consistency.
- Leave it for 10 minutes before applying.
- Put small squares of tissue on your face
- After covering face with tissue, put the paint as desired.
