Teacher Georcelle advocates fitness via “White Shirt Love”

MANILA, Philippines- One thing that girls worry about when summer approaches is how to prepare for a beach-ready body.

But with the a number of options  available, getting in shape before hitting the beach has become a tad easier.

One of these options is the “White Shirt Love” dance class which is offered and choreographed by no other than G-Force founder Georcelle Dapat-Sy.

This dance lesson which she aims to be a “fitness exercise,” is  offered exclusively to women and women at heart.

“This program dinesign (design) ko siya for moms, gusto ko nga tawagin siyang Foxy Moms in the beggining,” she said, narrating how the program started. "When you enter kasi my class you sweat, you feel empowered, kasi komportable ka when you feel empowered.

“Then I realized who doesn't want to be empowered di ba? So I opened it to everyone, all girls nga lang and girls at heart, no men allowed. Kasi naggagapangan, gano'n ang klase, very sensual. That's why closed ang studio, dim ang lights, ayokong nagkakaro'n ng inhibitions, gusto ko komportable lahat.”

Two personalities who already tried this fitness program are fashion designer Rajo Laurel and model-businesswoman Krystal Belo.

“Balik Alindog Program”

The idea of “White Shirt Love” started when teacher Georcelle attended a seminar in Las Vegas, and learned how this “sensual” dance was done.

Yet there in US, it was even more intense as she said, “wala sa kanila magpakita ng singit, ng flesh, ng skin... wala talaga, e. Tapos sumasayaw kami hinhubad nila ('yong clothes slowly), wala lang sa kanila,” she recalled.

So the challenge is to “adjust that to Philippines Culture, di ba? Tayo kasi conservative tayo, sa akin I want to apply na my students are comfortable sa katawan nila, kahit anong size, na hindi malaswa, 'yong may respeto tayo sa pagkababae natin.

“So it started as a gift [to my friend], then I left [for Las Vegas], and from there nagkaro'n ako ng idea kung paano ko siya gagawin as a fitness (activity). Kasi gusto ko i-drown ang self ko sa lahat ng posibleng maaaral ko para makapag-design ako ng sarili kong fitness program.”

Though “White Shirt Love” is a dance fitness program, girls don't have to worry if they don't know how to dance. All you have to do is express one's self in a “sensual” way.

“They just have to bring their T-shirt, kahit anong bottom (pants) mo okay lang sa akin 'yan, kahit anong footwear,” Teacher Georcelle said about the class.

“Ako, kung ako mag-enroll sa class na 'yon I'll feel ano na, e, walang expectations, common ground, I'm not forced to wear heels, ganyan. Kahit walang background (sa dancing) welcome kayo sa White Shirt Love. As long as babae ka, babae ang puso mo, babae ka.”

Aside from the “White Shirt Love,” the dance company also offers other dance classes under the “G-Force Project”, which are perfect for kids and teens who are on a school break.

Enrollment for the dance classes starts today, March 14-15, and March 24-29 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The classes for the “G-Force Project” are in two batches: Batch 1 is from March 31-April 12, Batch 2 is from May 10-29, and the recital of the two batches will be held on May 29 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
