Marites Allen ventures to fashion

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines- Feng Shui expert Marites Allen ventures to the world of fashion as she launches her clothing line “Frigga” here in the Philippines.

Frigga was first launched in London last year, where Maritess has migrated with her family.

Many ask why she ventured in to this business, and Maritess simply says that fashion and feng shui are closely related.

From lucky color to lucky charms, she’s the person consulted by big personalities like Kris Aquino, Boy Abunda, Tim Yap and Tessa Prieto-Valdez. This sparked her idea of putting up a fashion line while incorporating feng shui to it.

So Maritess studied fashion at London College of Fashion, and named her brand Frigga, which is the Norse goddess of prophecy and destiny.

In an interview with a London-based writer Chit Tribiana, Maritess said her brand aims to combine fashion and luck.

“Just as feng shui is all about manipulating the environment to suit our aspirations, Frigga is all about knowing what ti wear and why we should wear them.”

At the Frigga press launch last Tuesday, Oct. 8, which happens to be Marites’ birthday as well, she gave a preview of their collection for the year 2014.

The prints in this model’s skinny jeans are combination of different symbols which attracts good health.

While the prints of this this wrap-around dress is for attracting love and successful marriage.

Of course for those who want to attract wealth, here’s mystic knot printed dress.

Last but not the least is the design for the Year of the Horse, where prints like a running horse, a golden rhino and auspicious coins are combined.

According to Maritess, each item “carries a distinctive fashion DNA", making Frigga the first of its kind.

Since it serves a fashion statement and a lucky charm, “call it fashion for a reason, or fashion with a purpose that goes beyond looking good,” she said.

Frigga’s design team, which is composed by Toby Meadows, Alice Shreeve, Hannah Coniam and Rupert Shreeve, worked on each design for at least three months.

Aside from her annual fesng shui updates for year 2014, a teaser of the Frigga 2014 collection will be viewed this Dec. 7 at the F1 Hotel Manila in Bonifacio Global City.
