Watami’s Genghis Khan Lunch Set satisfies one’s craving for various flavors and textures. The set is composed of stir fried beef, miso soup, romaine lettuce salad, plain rice, and Japanese cold tea. The beef is mixed with red and green peppers as well as bean sprouts and cabbage in teppan gyuniku sauce. It is very tender and tasty while it was a relief that the amount of bean sprouts did not overwhelm the entire dish. The photo of the food in the menu is uncooked so don’t be surprised if it may come off as brown and ruffled instead of pinkish. The dish has a strong smoky flavor and may be a bit salty for some people so it was a delight to eat it with warm and fluffy rice. The comforting warmth of the miso soup and the refreshing salad composed of lettuce, sweet kernel corn, onion plus a light soy dressing complement the entire dish.
The Genghis Khan Beef Barbeque is also available a la carte for PHP 275. Needless to say, with just an additional PHP 70, one can have a more filling meal. The serving of the beef itself is a little bit more than enough for one person though. Eating it with the side dishes makes it more fun and interesting so it may be surprising that one can easily finish the entire thing. - Sarah May Condat, contributor
