MANILA, Philippines — The rainy season should not dampen one’s #FitnessGoals, said TV hosts and fitness coaches Jim and Toni Saret.

“Sa dami ng lifestyle diseases plaguing the country due to emotional stresses… ‘Di ba ang dami na nating sakit pati psychological and spiritual? Lahat ‘to nag-mamanifest sa health natin,” Coach Toni explained on why now is the right time to get into a healthier lifestyle.

For those who want to get started into fitness, the celebrity coaches gave the following pieces of advice:

1. Ask for your doctor’s medical clearance.

“So you would know your medical history and how far can you go,” said Coach Toni.

2. Once your doctor gives you a green signal, go for it.

“’Wag na mag-isip. It’s a no-brainer. Just go!” said the coach. “But it’s always good to consult your doctor before starting any fitness journey or diet.”

3. Besides a healthy diet, mobility is key.

“I’m not telling you to join a marathon right away. I’m telling you to dance if you like to dance. If you like to run, start with baby steps. Walk first. Kung mabigat ka, maglakad ka muna sa pool. There is such as a thing as aqua training,” said Coach Toni.

4. Exercise should not compromise one’s comfort.

“Besides choosing an exercise that prevents you from having injuries, get into something that inspires you to move,” the coach espoused.

“For me, especially on TV, we always have to look like an eye candy… The Under Armour Hovr makes me look stylish even inside the gym and at the same time, it molds itself into the shape of my feet, so it does not constrict my movement,” the coach added.

Good shoes equal good exercise experience, said the coach.

“If you’re traumatized, masakit ‘yung katawan ko, masakit ‘yung sapatos ko, madami nang dahilan para ‘di na mag-exercise,” she avered. “But if you’re using something with more movement, you become more active.”
