WATCH: How Hayden Kho Jr. makes Scarlet Snow eat vegetables
MANILA, Philippines — With 2.3 million Instagram followers, Scarlet Snow Belo is among the most followed kids in the Philippines.
Many follow her not only because she is the daughter of celebrity doctors Vicki Belo and Hayden Kho Jr., but because of her cute and funny videos and #OoTDs (outfits of the day).
Scarlet Snow might be born with a silver spoon, but according to her dad, she is just like many kids out there: she does not like vegetables.
In fact, Dr. Hayden told Philstar.com in a recent interview, Dr. Vicki also dislikes vegetables.
But as doctors, Hayden and Vicki know that they have to give the best for Scarlet, especially nutritious food like vegetables.
“Breastmilk is still best for babies,” Dr. Hayden reiterated. He was happy to share that for two years, Scarlet was able to enjoy breast milk donated by six friends who also have babies.
Now that Scarlet is three, she loves pasta with truffle oil, black rice with cheese, steak, fruits, and no dessert except for lunch and only in small amounts, said Hayden.
Though Scarlet does not like ice cream and junk food, she loves chips, which is why it is still a challenge for her parents to make her eat her veggies.
Lately, however, Hayden said he was able to make Scarlet like broccoli by eating a lot of it himself. He said he has also began teaching his daughter about the benefits of go, grow and glow food. He hopes that by appreciating the nutritional benefits of food, Scarlet would eventually eat a variety of vegetables.
Recently, Scarlet was officially introduced as the new ambassador of Nankid during a summer playdate hosted by the brand. The playdate brought back the brand’s “Parentology+,” an advocacy to guide parents in reshaping the future of their children. Scarlet embodies how her parent’s solid commitment, knowledge, and support, are creating a strong foundation for her future, and can inspire other parents to do the same for their own children.
The nutrition station reinforced the importance of a good and balanced diet to make sure that kids will have all the vitamins they need to grow healthier, stronger and smarter. In the socialization station, kids played with each other in fun and challenging life-sized board games. The station emphasized how socialization helps kids not only build relationships but enables them to work well with others, learn empathy and develop problem solving skills. Kids also had fun playing games and being active in the pool. While the kids were playing, parents were reminded about the importance of physical activity. Exposing children to outdoor activities helps develop their muscles, and prevents them from getting sick.
Among those who joined the event were fellow brand ambassadors Cat Arambulo Antonio and son Asher, Joy and Gian Sotto and son Rosanno, Steph Kienle Gonzalez and daughter Andrea, Steph Zubiri Crespi and son Sebastian, Anton Del Rosario and son Myles, and Mikaela Martinez Lagdameo and son Tyler. The parents swapped tips and stories about parenting concerns, while keeping an eye on their active children.
“As parents, we can take simple steps at home to reshape the future of our children. It’s the seemingly small things we do in the different phases of their lives– diet and nutrition, exercise and activity, socialization, creativity—that will make a difference in their future,” shared the celebrity parents. — Video by Kat Leandicho
