And now, a shoe resto for all your footwear cravings

REAL SPORTS SCENE - Anthony Suntay - The Philippine Star

Being an avid sports buff, I have a lot of needs when it comes to footwear. That’s why a one-stop shop for all your footwear cravings, Res|Toe|Run, makes shoe-shopping a feast with its unique restaurant concept, perfect with flavorful styles of rare shoe collections from all over the world.

The Res|Toe|Run store experience is set into three areas: the Res, the Toe, and the Run, each section sorted according to one’s needs. Res serves the comfortable casual footwear line, Toe is for toe-flaunting sandals and flip-flops, while Run is made up of active and athletic-inspired shoes.

The store also exclusively offers rare finds brands.

To show everyone unique and creative ways to incorporate fresh new footwear into one’s daily style, Res|Toe|Run enlisted the help of curators in the form of top stylists and trendy bloggers to share their personal styles together with Primer-exclusive apparel. The curators were David Guison for People, Patricia Prieto for Faux Pas, Jamie Pizarro for Telic, Lissa Kahayon for Birkenstock, and yours truly for Swims.

During the event, the curators shared their own unique stories behind the curatorship that they executed as well as the trends which inspired them in styling the display tables of each brand.

Faux Pas was founded in 2013 by Philippe Millieret in Paris. They are waterproof and washable footwear made of PVC material, offered in a range of styles and prints. Like the courage and innovation that are needed to make something awesome out of an otherwise unfortunate blunder, Faux Pas makes use of rubber materials and turns them into a kooky selection of ballet flats, ankle boots, rain boots, and boat shoe-inspired footwear.

Birkenstock, on the other hand, was founded in 1774 and is the epitome of excellent craftsmanship and quality. Unique and one-of-a-kind, each Birkenstock sandal is made from sustainable raw materials like cork, which comes from first quality by-products of the wine industry, and latex which makes up its contoured footbed. Plus, Birkenstock’s packaging is made of 90-percent recycled paper and environment-friendly ink.

If you’re after fashion and comfort, People is perfect for you. Canadian entrepreneurs Damian Van Zyll De Jong and Matt Penner founded the brand, an innovative and revolutionary range of everyday footwear. For its first spring/summer collection, four unique styles were based on a core construction of People’s very own Skylite performance foam — water repellant, shock absorbing, easy to clean, and absolutely odor-resistant.

We all know about flip-flops, and there’s not much that one can supposedly do to innovate them, but here comes Telic to prove us all wrong with its range of super cool and unbelievably comfy sandals. Made in America and absolutely earth- friendly, Telic offers resilience and durability, heat-activated foot bed technology, and are machine washable. Through the use of a special blend of elasto-polymers, Telic not only absorbs shock but also has a noticeable bounce-back effect!  Which is an excellent sports recovery sandal.

Lastly, luxurious yet affordable, the ever playful and multifunctional Swims footwear embodies the quintessential timeless yet modern style sensibility. Swims has a range of footwear that’s ideal for the urban city life as it is also suitable for leisure trips elsewhere.

It fits me perfectly because I could easily switch from my work to play in an instant without even changing my footwear.

It was an honor to have been a curator for Swims and I look forward to using the shoes in all my endeavors.
