Boxfresh: Fit for work and play
Before streetwear became the penultimate trend of the 21st century, Boxfresh has been elevating British street style since 1989. Originating from humble market stall beginnings, Boxfresh evolved to become a bastion of British streetwear, being one of the pioneers of a sincere, casual yet unique way of dressing up that’s now being embraced everywhere by style enthusiasts.
Twenty-five years later, Boxfresh continues to lead the London street style loop as it mirrors the unpredictable nature of the London youth culture and spirit. The result is a brand that has stood the test of time as it remains devoted to design appreciators and street culture athletes. As it celebrates over two decades of success as UK’s best-loved streetwear brand, Boxfresh hosted a fun and fresh event to honor its 25th anniversary at Black Market in Makati.
Pegged as its strongest collection yet as each footwear represents intelligent streetwear with slick graphics and unique materials while maintaining a mature palette, the 25-capsule collection proves Boxfresh’s ground-breaking vision, which pushes the boundaries on popular classics while infusing smart twists.
Similar to its Spring ’14 counterpart, it showcased three footwear styles featuring “Quarter” and “25” graphics on stylish yet functional rip-stop nylon and water-resistant suit fabric. This not only represents the brand’s quarter of a century but also its humble beginnings selling printed tees and American streetwear from the Greenwich and Camden Markets in North London. The “25” edition Swich, Aggra, and Ashbrooke silhouettes will also feature the new athletic “Katashi” outsole as well as reflective 3M materials to complete the urban look.
Boxfresh also showcased its latest drops for the Autumn-Winter ’14 season, starting off with the new Aggra and Ashbrooke styles which are sneakerfied takes on traditional laced-up silhouettes by using a water repellent Teflon coating constrasted with leather detailing and a work wear inspired lining; the classic Keel, Sparko and Swich styles which boast casual yet sharp aesthetics and materials fit for both work and play. The styles provide simple, classic block colors while adding technical fabrics such as reflective 3M and durable woven nylon. Proving its expertise in crafting out-of-the-box yet street-smart designs, Boxfresh is able to bring a contemporary point of view to classic looks.
