Where to go this weekend: A round-up of family-friendly events

Tina Santiago-Rodriguez - The Philippine Star

In my last article here, I listed three family-friendly events that were worth visiting two weekends ago. I hope some of you found it useful! Our family was able to catch the last day of the Manila International Book Fair, and we had a great time (though it wasn’t so great for our wallets!).

As you all probably know by now, I’m all for making meaningful memories with our families, so I really encourage all the parents out there to spend quality time with their kids when they can!

I am also an advocate of lifelong learning, and if you’re a parent like me, let’s consider ourselves blessed that there are lots of learning seminars and events especially for people who are starting out or have young families.

With this in mind then, allow me to share with you another round-up of family-friendly events this weekend, in the hope that it will help you and your family somehow:

1. The Breastfeeding Club’s Breastfeeding 202 Class

If you’re an expectant parent, this class is perfect for you! Join La Leche League Leader and Certified Lactation Counselor Abbie Yabot as she teaches you about how breastfeeding is truly the best start for your baby.

For more details, contact 0917-8110821 or email bestforfamilies@gmail.com.

2. Yaya Seminar on Newborn Care and Proper Breastfeeding Support

This is especially for young families and/or expectant parents. If you have a yaya whom you want to train on how to care for your newborn baby, plus how to support you during your breastfeeding journey, this seminar will surely be helpful.

(Tip: The seminar venue is the same as the Breastfeeding 202 class venue, so if you want to attend both, it will be much more convenient for you! Just bring your own lunch, or eat at any of the restaurants nearby.)

3. Mastermind Session for Work-at-Home Moms (WAHMs): Marketing Your Business

This Work-at-Home Mastermind Session is for anyone (yes, even if you’re not a WAHM) who is interested in learning about marketing your business.

For details on fees, and to register, just visit ManilaWorkshops.com.

4. Baby Sign Language and Understanding Your Toddler Workshop

I’m a huge fan of baby sign language as it has helped me communicate better with all three of our children. In fact, I consider it as one of the earliest forms of "homepreschooling".

Again, for more details, just visit ManilaWorkshops.com.

5. Eastwood City’s Annual Pet Blessing

This event will definitely leave animal lovers super happy. Eastwood City holds this Pet Blessing ceremony every year, in partnership with CARA (Compassion and Responsibility for Animals) and the Philippine Annual Rescue Team. It is part of the commemoration of the Feast Day of Saint Francis of Assisi, which falls on October 4 every year.

Aside from the Mass and blessing, there will be the giving of special awards and a Pet Fair. For more details visit ClicktheCity.com (the image above is also from the ClicktheCity).

Whatever you choose to do this weekend, I hope you’ll have a super blessed and meaningful one with your loved ones! Remember, every moment is a chance to make a difference in the lives of those who matter the most to us!
