The Queen’s Cup: Pool of fun
Manila was center of the pool world when The Queen’s Cup was recently held in the country.
The event showcased the rivalry between the Asians and their western counterparts in Europe and USA, taking a cue from the Ryder Cup and President’s Cup in golf or the Mosconi Cup for their male counterparts in the sport.
The best lady cue masters were chosen to represent their regions, with Ga Young Kim from Korea leading the Asian group with Rubilen Amit, Siming Chen, and Tsai Pei Chen against the West crew of team captain Kelly Fisher and teammates Allison Fisher, Jasmine Ouschan, and Vivian Villareal.
The event was played at the Resorts World Manila over three days in a 10-Ball format, with the first team reaching 10 matches winning the Cup. The style of play included singles, doubles, triples, and 4-on-4.
The action, witnessed by the fans, included scenes they had never seen before, with the ladies conferring on strategies and shots to be made. The interaction was amazing to watch!
In the end, the Asian squad proved to be more cohesive in dominating this competition, which had the pool aficionados begging for more!
As early as now, fans are looking forward to the second edition.
