Miladay supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Miladay, the country’s premier fine jewelry brand, goes pink this October in support of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The fight against cancer runs deep in the hearts of the Dayrit family who own and operate the Miladay business.  Their parents Ting and Mila, who founded Miladay 47 years ago, both died of lung cancer.  And much more recently, Miladay’s Michelle Dayrit-Soliven, current president and the second of five siblings from the second generation of Dayrits, emerged victorious in her battle against breast cancer — about six years after her bout with endometrial cancer.

Michelle was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in January of 2012, and the tight-knit Dayrit family shed a lot of tears when they learned the news, but kept the faith that God will take care of her.  Michelle was filled with grace, stayed strong and never complained about the pain her illness was causing her.  She hosted outrageous chemotherapy parties at the pediatric ward of the Makati Medical Center and entrusted herself to God and to the hands of her doctors.  Within just a year, she had beaten breast cancer.

“The combination of prayer, the right medical treatments, the positive attitude, the love of God, and the doctors’ skilled hands helped me overcome my sickness,” shares Michelle.

Her positive attitude, love for life and her sense of humor makes Michelle one of the most inspiring ambassadors for the battle against cancer. She calls herself a cancer warrior.  And her family’s Miladay is right behind her in supporting this advocacy.

For the month of October, Miladay will be giving a portion of its proceeds from sales of its “Pink Ribbon” items for the benefit of The Carewell Community Foundation, a PCNC accredited foundation that offers all its programs, resources, and services completely free of charge to persons affected by cancer.
