What kids learn from tournaments
MANILA, Philippines - The 27th SBP-Passerelle season was a resounding success for the players who competed in the tournament. Over 160 schools participated this year, sending 15 players each to compete and bring home the national championship trophy for both divisions. Besides a championship trophy, the participants also got to show what they have learned from their BEST Center training where they are taught to hone their basketball skills and the value of discipline, hard work, and overcoming adversity when competing in sports.
Gracing the event were Capiz Governor Vic Tanco and Vice Mayor Ronnie Dadivas. In a show of support, parents were seen cheering for their respective teams. Among those present were former PBA players Noli Locsin and Rodney Santos whose kids are players for the La Salle Greenhills SBP team.
LSGH president Bro. Felipe C. Belleza, FSC was also present to give La Salle his full support. “Tournaments like these provide students and aspiring athletes a great way to hone their skills and build confidence. Also, sports are a great complement to academics. Academics build knowledge while sports help build character,†he says.
The SBP-Passerelle twin tournament is organized by BEST Center and sponsored by Milo. The two divisions, SBP and Passerelle, cater to ages 9-11 and 12-14 respectively.
Nic Jorge, BEST Center founder and president, said, “I thank the schools and parents for supporting and making the SBP-Passerelle twin tournament a success. I am glad to be part of so many aspiring basketball players and helping schools and parents promote the values of sportsmanship and character formation.â€
